What could be more rewarding than traveling in minimalist style? This approach allows you to experience authentic travel by focusing on the essentials. By freeing your mind from material clutter, you open yourself up to new possibilities and a true sense of freedom.

In our modern world, we are often obsessed with owning material goods. But by adopting a minimalist approach to travel, you can escape this consumerist mentality. Instead of packing a suitcase overflowing with stuff, you simply pack light and functional luggage.

By traveling light, you can move around more easily and be more flexible in your choices. No more lugging huge suitcases through crowded streets or desperately searching for storage space for your belongings. You can save time and energy to focus on what really matters: exploring new horizons and meeting inspiring people.

In addition to making travel easier, minimalism allows you to reconnect with what truly matters. By freeing your mind from the superfluous, you can focus on the experiences that genuinely bring you joy and happiness. You can immerse yourself in the local culture, savor traditional dishes, lose yourself in picturesque alleyways, and admire breathtaking landscapes.

5. Minimalist travel essentials: a practical list to follow

In this article, we’ll present you with a practical and essential list for minimalist travel. Whether you’re a minimalist enthusiast or simply looking for a lighter travel experience, these essentials will allow you to fully enjoy your trip while reducing clutter and stress.

First, opt for a high-quality, spacious, and functional backpack. Choose a lightweight model with multiple compartments to easily organize your belongings. This will allow you to keep essentials within easy reach and minimize the weight on your shoulders. Also, invest in compressible packing cubes to optimize space and protect your clothes.

Next, prioritize versatile, high-quality clothing. Opt for basic pieces in neutral colors that can be easily mixed and matched. Also, remember to pack clothing suitable for different weather conditions. Lightweight, breathable, and easy-care fabrics are ideal for a minimalist trip.

Don’t forget your toiletries either. Opt for solid products or small quantities to minimize the space they take up in your bag. A folding toothbrush, multi-purpose soap, and natural deodorant are wise choices. Also, remember to pack a first-aid kit containing basic medications and bandages.

When it comes to technology, stick to the essentials. A multifunctional smartphone can replace your camera, GPS, and travel guides. Don’t forget to pack a universal adapter for your electronic devices. If you plan to work or stay connected during your trip, an e-reader can be handy for carrying all your books without cluttering your bag.

Finally, be sure to pack essential documents such as your passport, plane tickets, and accommodation reservations. Remember to make copies of these documents and keep them in different places in your bag. A travel journal can also be useful for recording your memories and impressions throughout the trip.

By following this practical list and adopting a minimalist approach, you’ll be ready to travel light while fully enjoying your adventure. Simplify your life, free yourself from the unnecessary, and embrace the pleasure of minimalist travel!

6. Maximizing encounters and experiences: the advantage of minimalism when traveling

Traveling in minimalist style is not just a lifestyle, it’s a philosophy that allows us to maximize encounters and experiences during our journeys around the world. By getting rid of the superfluous, we free ourselves from material constraints and focus on what truly matters: human connections, cultural discoveries, and moments of sharing.

One of the major advantages of minimalism when traveling is the freedom it provides. By not being burdened by a lot of luggage, you travel lighter and can move easily from one place to another. This lightness allows you to seize last-minute opportunities, follow your intuition, and discover unexpected places. You allow yourself to let go and be guided by the unknown.

Minimalism in travel also fosters authentic encounters and sincere exchanges with local people. By traveling with fewer material possessions, we strengthen our open-mindedness and our ability to live in the present moment. We make ourselves available to talk with locals, share a traditional meal, or participate in a local activity. These special moments allow us to understand the cultures, customs, and social issues of the communities we visit.

Furthermore, minimalism in travel encourages us to prioritize quality over quantity. Rather than visiting numerous superficial tourist sites, we choose to immerse ourselves in a single place and explore it in depth. We can thus take the time to stroll through the streets, get lost in vibrant neighborhoods, and grasp the very essence of each location. Slowing down becomes our ally, allowing us to feel the energy of each destination and create unforgettable memories.

By adopting a minimalist approach to travel, we learn to detach ourselves from material possessions and focus on the experience itself. We realize that objects don’t define our happiness and that true wealth lies in shared moments, unexpected encounters, and self-discovery. Traveling minimalist opens the doors to a memorable adventure, where every encounter and every experience is amplified by our freedom and authenticity.

7. Traveling in minimalist mode⁢ with technology: how to optimize device usage

In our modern world, where technology is everywhere, traveling minimalist can seem difficult. Yet, it’s entirely possible to optimize our device usage to simplify our travel experience. Here are a few tips for traveling light while still enjoying the benefits of technology.

By following these tips, you can travel minimalist while still taking advantage of technology. Keep in mind that the main goal is to fully enjoy your trip, without being weighed down by unnecessary devices. So remember to appreciate every moment, take photos to create memories, and let yourself be surprised by the discoveries you make along the way. Have a great trip!

8. Travel light, travel happy:⁢ make the most of your minimalist adventure

Everyone dreams of escaping the stress of daily life, disconnecting from the digital world, and experiencing an unforgettable adventure. Traveling light and minimalist offers the key to this long-awaited getaway. By embracing a minimalist lifestyle, you’ll discover a new way to travel, where happiness lies in simplicity.

The first advantage of traveling light is the freedom it provides. By shedding your belongings, you no longer have to worry about lugging heavy suitcases or wasting time searching for clothes in a messy bag. Instead, you can focus on what truly matters: enjoying your trip to the fullest. With less luggage, you’ll be more flexible and able to move around more easily. This will allow you to venture off the beaten path, familiarize yourself with local customs, and fully immerse yourself in the culture of the places you visit.

Another major advantage of minimalist travel is reduced stress. By limiting your possessions to the essentials, you eliminate an emotional burden. You won’t have to worry about losing valuables or being robbed. You can also save money by avoiding excess baggage fees and unnecessary expenses. Traveling light also means saving time by freeing yourself from the burden of lugging around a lot of luggage, giving you more time to enjoy every moment of your adventure.

In keeping with the minimalist spirit, it’s also important to choose accommodations that suit your travel style. Opt for simple yet comfortable lodgings, such as hostels or guesthouses, that will allow you to rest after a busy day without breaking the bank. This will also give you the opportunity to meet other travelers who share your interests and exchange travel tips and stories.

In short, traveling light and minimalist will provide you with an enriching and liberating experience. You’ll focus on what truly matters, de-stress, and create lasting memories. Don’t be afraid to simplify your life on your next adventure. Go back to basics and let the beauty of minimalist travel wash over you.

Recapitulation

Thank you for joining us on this journey towards the essentials, through the intricacies of a minimalist travel lifestyle. By embracing this streamlined philosophy, we discovered a new way of seeing the world, of giving new meaning to our adventures, and of leaving a lighter footprint on our planet.

By getting rid of the superfluous and connecting more closely with what truly matters, we realized that minimalism is much more than just a trend. It’s a mindset, a quest for simplicity that transcends boundaries and pushes us to reconsider our relationship with the objects, memories, and people we encounter.

By adopting this minimalist lifestyle while traveling, we also gained freedom. Lighter, more flexible, we learned to shed material burdens to focus on the pure experience, on the present moment. We rediscovered the power of the unforeseen, the unexpected, the unknown, letting spontaneity guide our steps.

Human encounters have taken a prominent place in our minimalist journeys. By opening ourselves to others, freeing ourselves from prejudices and material barriers, we have been able to forge authentic bonds, strong friendships that continue to transcend geographical borders.

And then there was nature, this inexhaustible source of wonder and contemplation. By traveling light, we reconnected with it, rediscovered that ancestral link that unites us with all living beings. More aware of the impact of our actions, we learned to respect and preserve this fragile ecosystem that shelters us all.

But minimalism while traveling doesn’t stop there. It’s also an awakening of our senses, a call to creativity. By getting closer to the essentials, we’ve developed a new sensitivity, an ability to appreciate simple pleasures, fleeting moments that are etched in our memories.

So, closing this parenthesis on minimalist travel, remember that this philosophy isn’t reserved for globetrotters. It can find its place in our daily lives, offering us space to breathe, reflect, and reassess our priorities.

Treasures of Toulouse

It’s in the south of France , on the banks of the Garonne, that you’ll find one of the French’s most beloved hidden gems: Toulouse , the Pink City. Thanks to its unofficial status as the capital of Occitan culture, Toulouse celebrates its French and Spanish heritage with festivals throughout the year, but it’s in the summer that events truly flourish.

EDM fans can dance at the Inox festival in May, or at Siestes Électroniques in July, held in the Japanese Gardens. For a more laid-back vibe, the Rio Loco festival takes place in June along the Garonne and celebrates world cultures with concerts, exhibitions, and markets. Book lovers shouldn’t miss the Marathon des Mots in June, a week of readings, discussions, and panel discussions with authors, poets, and writers from around the globe.

The Cozumel Appeal

White sand, coral reefs, ancient temples, and Mayan ruins dot the landscape of Mexico’s paradise island of Cozumel . Offshore, colorful fish swim around the coral reefs, while the summer sun makes the underwater scene sparkle in a sublime 28-degree heat. Unlike the rest of the year, Cozumel is quieter in the summer, allowing you to relax on the beach at your leisure. Why not visit nearby attractions, such as the San Gervasio archaeological site, where the ancient Mayans worshipped their moon goddess?

Imagine yourself in Ireland

Ireland is beautiful all year round. However, the Emerald Isle is truly dazzling in the summer, as the sun sets later, giving you up to 17 hours of daylight to explore. Stroll along the cliffside paths by the sea and enjoy the sublime views of spectacular sites such as the Cliffs of Moher or the basalt columns of the Giant’s Causeway.

If you prefer to stay in the city, Irish summers promise a season of festivals and celebrations.
Magical moments in Jamaica

Endless sunshine, idyllic beaches, and some of the best coffee in the world are good enough reasons to visit Jamaica , but the Jamaican experience isn’t complete without a summer visit.

Foodies rejoice in the spicy flavors of the Portland Jerk Festival, held annually in early July in the birthplace of jerk chicken. Partygoers can let loose at Jamaica Dream Weekend, a five-day annual event dedicated to dance and music on Negril Beach, featuring performances by local and international artists, along with food and drinks.

If those aren’t enough reasons to visit Jamaica, keep in mind that during the summer months, the number of tourists is significantly lower, meaning you’ll have a much easier time securing a prime spot on the beach or by the pool to soak up the sun!
A Grand Odyssey in Greece

Welcome to the land of mythology and honey, home to hundreds of charming and unique islands, as well as a fascinating culture and history. Embark on a summer odyssey to Greece and visit the islands during the sunniest season. Head to a taverna to sample traditional Greek dishes, such as stuffed vine leaves, and admire the sunset from a terrace before partying until the early hours in Mykonos, Santorini, or Rhodes.

For a more serene atmosphere, you can relax on islands like Paros and Naxos. In August, Athens celebrates the Festival of the Moon, during which historical sites and museums stay open late into the night, while concerts and exhibitions take place under the moonlight.

What’s more, Canadian poet and musician Leonard Cohen spent his summers on the Greek island of Hydra, making this resort the perfect place to compose your own Homeric anthem with one of our packages !

So, get out there and make some friends!

From July to September, the Magdalen Islands come alive during the La Mer sur un plateau food festival, which showcases local specialties in the islands’ restaurants, farms, and fisheries. For a different kind of cultural experience, the sandcastle competition takes place in early August and promises incredible creations on the beach.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel nutzen: Day Travelcards & Oyster Card

Unterkunft: Budget Hotels & Airbnb

Do you also sometimes get lost among all the materials that the current market offers? So we have a practical guide for you, which will introduce you to the properties of individual materials, their disadvantages, what they are used for or, for example, how to properly care for a specific material. This is our material guide. In previous guides you could read interesting information about elastane , cotton and nylon . Today we will focus on luxury cashmere.

Cashmere wool is one of the most expensive natural textiles. Due to its aesthetic and functional properties, it is also one of the most sought-after textiles. Cashmere wool products are very soft, soft and pleasant to the touch. Generally speaking, cashmere is considered to be the highest quality material ever . This is also the reason why it is necessary to take into account the higher price when purchasing it.

All about cashmere

How is luxury cashmere obtained? And what are its properties? You can read this in the following lines.

What is cashmere?

Cashmere wool is a very exceptional material. It is often referred to as the most luxurious and expensive natural material . It is combed by Kashmiri goats from the groin area (the finest fibers are found there). However, there are not many of these first-class fibers. Therefore, only about 50 to 150 grams can be obtained from Kashmir goats per year.

Properties of cashmere

Cashmere wool clothing has excellent properties. The charming softness of cashmere sweaters cannot be compared to any other sweater. Warmth is also worth mentioning . Cashmere sweaters are about six times warmer than, for example, ordinary sheep’s wool sweaters. So you will definitely not be cold in a cashmere sweater. However, not only cashmere sweaters have the mentioned properties, but all cashmere textiles.

In addition to the unique softness and warmth, cashmere holds its shape perfectly , does not stretch, does not fade and, with good care, will last you for many years like new .

What is made of cashmere?

Sweaters, hats, scarves, shawls, gloves, hats or bathrobes are most often made of luxury cashmere . In addition to clothes, you can also buy cashmere rugs .

How to take care of cashmere?

Cashmere needs to be handled very carefully . However, taking care of cashmere pays off. Thanks to this, the clothes will look absolutely sensational even after years. This means that it does not change color, shape and remains the same as if you were wearing it for the first time.

Kashmir should be washed in lukewarm water . The temperature should not exceed 20 ° C during washing. Ideally wash cashmere by hand. It is also possible to wash it in an automatic washing machine, where it is necessary to set a program for washing wool.

Therefore, gentle hand washing with the addition of a suitable detergent for delicate fabrics is ideal. After a gentle wash, do not wear cashmere clothes in the classic way (by turning). Gently squeeze the water out of the washed clothes so that it is not damaged. Do not tumble dry your clothes or in direct sunlight .

Disadvantages of cashmere

The disadvantage of cashmere clothing can be considered a higher purchase price . However, if you give your cashmere clothing only the best care, your initial investment will pay off.

Types d’activités : plages, paysages, snorkeling, beaux villages.

2 : Paros

Avantages : superbes plages, calme, familiale

Types d’activités : plages, paysages, snorkeling, beaux villages.Comment s’y rendre?

Avantages : assez calme, jolies plages, randonnée, familiale

Types d’activités : plages, paysages, beaux villages

Comment s’y rendre?

Types d’activités : beaux villages, plages, vie locale

Comment s’y rendre ?

How to get from Skavsta Airport

By bus and train via Nyköping

The airport (the stop is called Skavsta Flygplat) is connected by public transport to the center of Nyköping. There is a bus there every hour, currently number 515. The ticket can be bought at the Pressbyrån store at the airport, via the app or the Sörmlandstrafiken website , and on the bus, where you can only pay by card. The destination of the line is 7 km away – railway and bus stations, from where there are also connections to Stockholm.

SJ trains run to Stockholm Central Train Station . You can buy tickets at the station, in the application and on the website. You will travel for about 1.5 hours.

Direct airport bus Flygbussarna

The shuttle bus connects Skavsta Airport with Stockholm Central and Norrköping and Linköping. You leave the terminal and there is a platform just around the corner, where you get on the bus and wake up in Stockholm in an hour and a half. It is quite cheap (199 SEK), compared to the journey by public transport only about 2 € more expensive and much more convenient. Tickets are bought at the box office at the airport, on the bus (only by credit card), in the application or on the website .

Flygbussarna adjusted the conditions through a pandemic. They are still very flexible. You do not buy tickets for a specific day and bus, but with a validity of 3 months, during which you can travel both directions. Unused tickets can be canceled (while valid). When buying via the web or application, it is even free of administration.

Bus departures from the airport are still adjusted to the actual arrival times, to which is added a reserve so that passengers can pass any tests and vaccinations. The timetable is regularly adjusted according to changes in the timetables that are still taking place. If the flight is canceled, the bus is automatically canceled.

Accommodation in Stockholm

I also wanted to live close to the center in the Swedish capital. It saves time, and when I go alone, I prefer to live in places where it lives more. I feel safer there than in the outskirts , especially when I go out in the dark.

I chose the Riddarholmen section. It is a small island in the center, which is part of Gamla Stan. Not to be missed is the church where several earlier Swedish monarchs were buried. From one part there is a beautiful panoramic view of the bay Riddarfjärden and the town hall in the background. There was also my hotel, more like a boat. I used to live on a boat, in a cabin with a view directly across the bay.

Accommodation at Mälardrottningen Yacht Hotel & Restaurant was original and excellent location and services. If you haven’t been on a ship yet, know that the cabins are quite small, you may have a claustrophobic feeling here.

In addition to Riddarholmen, I also considered accommodation right in the heart of Gamla Stan, the Old Town with all the sights and a bunch of places where you can eat or have a drink. And also Norrmalm, a modern and commercial area. Although it has fewer attractions, it is close to the main ones. In addition, it is a transport hub of the city with top shopping opportunities.

Whatever location you are considering, I recommend you book your accommodation as soon as possible (preferably one that offers free cancellation). I reckoned that when there was an off-season and a pandemic, there would be a lot of free and cheap rooms until the last minute, and I paid for it.

Food in Stockholm

What to taste in Stockholm

Before the trip, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Swedish food besides the famous meatballs. The country has a long coastline and forests, so its cuisine is dominated by fish and meat . Atypical reindeer meat is a favorite for us, part of the traditional Saami cuisine.

It is also common for everything he gives (and doesn’t) to load, preserve and ferment. For example, they are herring. Preserved and fermented herring, which calls Surströmming , is one of the most stinking dishes in the world . I didn’t dare, but I liked Gravad Lax, a loaded salmon with dill.

Swedes (and I) like cranberries in any form. They make jam from them, but they don’t just paint it on cakes. They have it with meatballs, steak, potatoes or mash. These are strange but tasty combinations.

Coffee and cake are also a very popular pair of flavors for Swedes. It is an important part of their culture. They also have a special name for her – Fika . It’s a coffee break, a claim they even have included in their employment contracts. They enjoy it everywhere – at home, in nature, in cafes. They drink strong filtered coffee, which is not such that real coffee makers fall on its ass, but it goes well with kanelbullar, Swedish cinnamon buns.

Where to eat in Stockholm

Sweden and Scandinavia are expensive, the sooner you come to terms with it, the easier it will be for you to breathe. But even here, there are a few ways to save and still enjoy.

Book your accommodation with kitchen and prepare your own meals. With the fridge in the room you have the opportunity to store at least something for breakfast. You can also run to the supermarket and make some sticky notes. It is not the pinnacle of the country’s gastronomy, but if you prefer non-culinary experiences, it will suffice. The most common and quite well-equipped supermarket is Coop .

Then there are shops like 7-Evelen and Pressbyran , which has a better choice. They have fast food, fruit, fresh and semi-finished sandwiches, drinks, sweet, coffee, cakes. Beware, there are few of them in Gamla Stan.

Unlike other metropolises, Stockholm is not even “infested” with pizza or kebab stalls. This is good news for the atmosphere of the city, a little worse for those who want to eat cheaply. Here and there you will find traditional Stockholm food trucks with varied and tasty food at an affordable price. If you want to know where they are parked, find their location on the map .

The good news is that you don’t even have to leave property for food in the restaurant. The “big” meal pays off most for lunch. In Sweden, they have a lunch menu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to the main meal, the menu also includes a drink, coffee or sweet.

Tips for cafes and restaurants in Stockholm

There aren’t many of them, as I ate in several places, but they didn’t impress me enough to recommend them.

Bun Meat Bun – an excellent bourgeoisie with several branches in the city.

Meatballs for the People – has more than 10 types of Swedish specialty – meatballs. I did not have time to try it, but in addition to the official website of the city, several friends also recommended it to me.

What you should know about Stockholm

Sweden is technologically very advanced. It has introduced applications to all aspects of life. Using apps and QR codes, you can buy a ticket for any transport, order in restaurants, rent a bicycle or scooter.

There are toilet cubicles in the city, which you can easily unlock by attaching a payment card. They clean them quite regularly, they are in better condition than our public toilets. They are on every corner, especially in tourist places, so you don’t have to look for a cafe or a bush.

Swedes are trying to eliminate cash from their lives . I was there for 3 days and I didn’t even see SEK. Make sure you have a working payment card, as you will not pay cash at all.

Stockholm is under reconstruction, in some places until the end of 2022. Both the cathedral and the palace were covered with scaffolding, which disappointed me a bit. If you are going to the city because of them, wait for a visit. Slussen will be renovated perhaps even longer. It is a hilly neighborhood and elevators and stairs lead from the coast to its upper parts. But they are now closed and enclosed by scaffolding. It needs to be circumvented, and it’s not easy, as it seems to me that the closed routes of Google maps have not yet fully captured.

Visit Stockholm even out of season?

Scandinavia is a colder destination, suitable for late spring and summer , when it is warmest. The off-season, earlier spring and later autumn, is characterized by unpredictability of the weather. It is not so cold, it just spoils the showers. The big problem for me was the disgusting and cold wind, which was blowing especially near the water. It made him feel really cold in the shadows.

Rather than one thick jacket, I recommend that you layer your clothes, put something thinner on top, but not breathable and waterproof. You will need a hat and a thinner scarf. Don’t even bother with an umbrella, it will fly away. Better condition for quality raincoat. If you are going to walk around the rocky prospects, wear firmer shoes. When it’s wet, the rocks slip a lot.

Colors speak in favor of spring and autumn in Stockholm. There are trees everywhere and the city is magical when it is all green, and especially when the leaves are dressed in pastel. The advantage is the lower number of tourists, which in the summer is multiplied by cruise ships. The downside may be that some attractions aren’t running or running as often.

An exotic holiday like from a movie, and yet you still follow the rules and laws of Europe. The overseas territories of mainland Europe were a kind of certainty during the pandemic that nothing could surprise you. In this article, I have put together a few of these cities, which are theoretically part of Europe because they are under the administration of European countries, but they are not so far apart by distance.

You can fly to beautiful islands, some closer, others further and have an unforgettable holiday in exotics. Get ready for the turquoise sea in the Caribbean and untouched nature in the Atlantic or Indian Ocean.

Aruba Island

If you’ve ever played a Travelhack memory game , you’re sure to know Aruba. If you have been here, you are very lucky. It is not exactly the cheapest destination, but it is a complete paradise for honeymoons . Just as piglets are typical of the Bahamas , flamingos are typical of Aruba.

Holidaymakers often come here for the so-called wreck diving – they dive and observe not corals, but shipwrecks. The most popular location for this type of diving is Antilla Shipwreck. After googleing the photos, it quite tempted me! Should we treat ourselves to Aruba next season? Let’s be surprised! ?

Saint Martin Island

The island of Saint Martin is divided into two parts – French (Saint Martin), which is governed by French law, and Dutch (Sint Maarten), which is governed by Dutch law. It pays to see both, because there are beautiful views from the French side and a busy nightlife from the Dutch side.

Whatever you choose, you will not regret it. As I already wrote, if you succeed, then visit both, you will have it as two in one. The most popular is Maho beach in the Dutch part, because as you can see in the photo, you can literally be here to touch from landing planes. One of my dreams, even though we experienced almost the same thing at the Greek Skiathos ! ?

Great Britain

Britain manages it much more than other countries and I choose those places that are a great tip for a girl.

Caymans and Turks & Caicos Islands in the Caribbean

I visited both islands during the cruise . The Caymans were one of the best islands we visited in the Caribbean. It is a paradise not only thanks to the beaches, but also taxes. The beaches that are here are fabulously white and clean, the sea is full of shells and is lined with palm trees, which are a perfect shelter from the heat. For me, it was the best port from our cruise right here . He was relatively small and had nice shops.

The island of Grand Turk, which we visited within the Turks & Caicos Islands , is a clear leader in terms of water purity. Who is looking for a paradise with water, like from postcards, this is an island to go to. 4,800 people live here and everyone knows everyone. It has the lowest crime rate in the Caribbean and people live here literally with their doors open.

Gibraltar

Gibraltar is the only one in this article that is on the European mainland, but it is so special that I have nevertheless added it here. It is the mainland point of Europe closest to Africa, separated by the Strait of Gibraltar, which connects the Atlantic with the Mediterranean. Britain is in charge of defense and international relations, other issues are handled here.

In the photo below you can see practically the whole of Gibraltar. It is located on a limestone rock, where the cable car leads and from there there is a brutal view! Up to Africa! ? The only mainland route to Gibraltar intersects with an international airport, and this is a unique crossroads, run by conventional traffic lights. So you can walk across the runway here, because otherwise you can’t.

There is only one European colony of monkeys on the peninsula, which are very intrusive to rude. This is because they pamper them, because according to legend, as long as there are monkeys in Gibraltar, the peninsula will be British. However, it is a trip for a maximum of one day, so adapt your holiday accordingly.

France

From France, I chose the island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean and Martinique in the Caribbean.

Reunion in the Indian Ocean

Reunion Island belongs to the European Union as it is part of France. You pay in euros here, roaming and the internet are like in Europe. Prices are also high in shops and food is more expensive here than in our country by about 10-15%. The beaches are clean and the people are similar to mainland France – reluctant to use English, they are very nice, but somehow extremely and extremely uninteresting. The predominant Creole cuisine is simply excellent.

Reunion is beautiful with volcanic mountains with unrepeatable views and the whole is divided into national parks. It’s hard to choose which one to visit. Reunion has really beautiful mountains, you can also go a trek through the mountains for several days. Pavol Barabáš even climbed a beautiful waterfall with the game and they made this film about it .

It is washed by the azure sea and flowers are still blooming here. The weather is beautiful sunny, it is rarely 20 ° C. And what to do or see here? Definitely the capital of Fort-de-France or the active volcano Mont Pelée, which is the highest point of the island and offers perfect tourism. You can watch birds or snorkel here.

The Azores are a paradise for me until it can be described. These are the greenest islands I’ve ever seen , full of hot springs, lakes and waterfalls.

The Azores is located 1,500 km from Lisbon and around 3,900 km from the east coast of North America. It is an archipelago of 9 islands: Sao Miguel , Terceira, Pico, Flores, Graciosa, Corvo, Sao Jorge, Faial and Santa Maria. Most tourists come to the largest island of Sao Miguel, some also go to Terceira, Pico or Flores. Those who have been to several islands say that each is something different and special.

In my view, the best months to visit the Azores are May, June, September and October. April and October may already be colder and, most importantly, rainier. Anyway, I recommend going anytime! It’s really a dream destination.

Between the holidays we managed to go to Rokytnice, in January to Bedřichov for a few days. The weather didn’t suit us, the snow was from below, from above, in the hood, behind the collar, in the boots, just everywhere. The goal, however, was not to enjoy, but to re-melt the five-year-old son after a two-year break. And because children rarely notice bad weather, the task succeeded due to the considerable suffering of their parents.

Last weekend, Alena Zárybnická finally reported an azure sky with a yellow sun in the middle, and I couldn’t miss it. Despite the idyllic mountain weather, one problem was unfortunately found – my husband and our friends already had different plans. But I’m not a srab, I’ll go with my son alone! And because in addition to courage, I also lack naivety, this time I want to teach him to cross-country ski (I can see how you’re laughing now). But there are no small goals. All sorts of motivational bullshit about the fun of cross-country skiing made my son so excited that he enjoyed at least as much as I did when he left home.

The mountains are great

Where there is a will, there is a way. I say to myself in a traffic jam in front of God’s Gift, which tells me that many, many other families had the same idea as I did. In addition, the situation is complicated by police officers who manage traffic before entering the village. When I manage to convince the men of the law that I am legally accommodated and therefore authorized to park directly in front of the boarding house, another wonderful thing awaits me – to stay. Since I’m here alone with my son, there are three ways to do it:
1) lock Vašík in the car and carry things to the room
2) carry things and force Vašík to come here and there with me
3) settle Vašík in the restaurant of the pension, carry things and hope he doesn’t go anywhere in between

Because I am a modern mother leading my son to independence, I choose the third option. “Don’t go anywhere, I’ll pick you up in a minute. If someone else wants to take you away, shout HELP, HELP! ”Proud of my motherly perfection, I run twice from the car to the third floor of the boarding house, burdened by provisions, to conclude that Vašík left his chair in the restaurant and went unknown. There is no street in front of the boarding house, so in a heart attack I run around the boarding house again and I doubt my mother’s perfection. I find Vašík cute in my anger in the attic children’s playroom, where an inflatable balloon is bursting at the mouth of a foreign boy. His father is very displeased. “Pardon.”

Mostly don’t freeze

My cross-country clothing is primarily designed for cross-country skiing. I realize that this time it will not be about movement at all, only after an hour and the first kilometer I scrape off the snow deposits from the base with frozen fingers. Despite the sun, they are minus three degrees and a cold wind blows. I would like to curse with pleasure, but I can’t, cross-country skiing is great fun. After another two hours full of falls, motivations, lifts, rewards and other motivations, I admit that cross-country skiing does not always have to be so great and I allow my son to take off the cross-country skis.

His walking speed is much higher than when he “rides” on cross-country skis. We arrive at the destination of the 5,600 m long route after four and a half cold hours and look forward to the hot tub and sauna of our guest house. “We’re full, you should have ordered that last week.” I learn. But we didn’t know at all that we were coming here. Well, nothing, I’ll have a grog.

The next day I run out of motivation and rewards right after the first kilometer, so we prefer to laugh in the afternoon on snow tubing. Wenceslas is happy and I, despite the warmer clothes, have frozen like sable shit again. Today we drove 1.5 km on cross-country skis, much more on rubber tires. So hell or paradise? Both for me. On the way home, he starts scratching my throat.
